I didn't get any records today but in this beautiful little mailer; I got a promotional photo of Ranking Joe ...and some nice photos of Little Joe, U Brown, Joe + Joseph Cotton and a VIP-card to Swedens prime reggae club of the 90's (located at the same nightclub were I nowadays work at ... only metal there now though). Thank you Swedon for this fantastic gift!

glad you liked it kalcidis. the slightly blurry pic of cotton and joe was taken backstage at a festival in 98 after a smoke courtesy of mr. barrow. the topic of conversation was the runnings on stage - a friend of mine named tobias was playing some warmup selection. in the middle of his set, a then well known swedish selector, drunk like a wha stumbles on stage with a record in hand and pushes tobias aside and replaces the record playing (!) with his own. tobias remained cool and calm tho...considering that he was playing to a large crowd for the first time, and dropped crazy baldhead on the inruders sorry ass as he was being escorted off stage ..we got a good laugh from that one! also remember mad professor, who was playing later with lee perry, coming by to greet. mr. perry was not to show up until about five hours later than advertised as apparently he had rented a private cinema and refused to leave until he had seen all his favorite ingmar bergman movies ..when he finally arrived he had covered his face in blue paint.
btw..smiling like a bandit on the vip card is general echo

Great story, Tony!
I thought the person on the VIP-card was the colonel? Are you sure it's Echo?

Just looking at the pics there, cool. I bought some LP's from a guy that used to work in Joe Gibbs plant in Florida a couple of years ago. In the mailer he threw me in some real photo's of DEB's funeral procession in Kingston. Deadly Headly is in one of the photos too. Nice.

i used to win a lot of stuff from chazbo out of bush chemists on ebay. it was always a joy opening the package when it reached, as there would always be something extra in there. i would get labels, flyers and other stuff thrown in with the records. he´d even send test presses (10 copies only biz) of tunes in addition to the ones i´d won. once in a while he´d send a mail asking if i had this or that and if he should add their latest release etc. my collection on the conscious sounds label would´nt be the same without his generosity for sure. kinda puts a smile on your face.

It has been a quite slow month for records. Been waiting for a package with albums from Steve Barrow that has yet to arrive. This one I got some days ago (among other not as interesting stuff);
