I don't know if I'm the last to take notice but I've been listening to her tracks at her My Space site and they are growing on me. I see that "Roots" came out in 2006. I haven't heard many newer Jamaican female singers whose output has impressed me much (I know some of you are fond of the Chynn's) but I'll be buying these. link: www.myspace.com/etanastrongone

I only have Roots on 45, but really love that tune! As far as I know it first appeared on 45 this year (springtime) and not in 2006, though maybe it got released for radio-play and such earlier.

She was on Sting yes? I can't say I was that taken by her performance but I've had a quick listen on her myspace page and she's definitley got something.
Has much else been released BMC?

Yep, the ones Freddy mentions are the only ones I know of (and only found Roots worth buying at the time, but must say the others do sound good too listening to 'm now at her myspace). She used to be a backing singer for Richie Spice I believe and as such didn't record much. Now she's gaining popularity with Roots being a reasonable hit and hopefully gets a chance to proof more of her skills. I for one am looking forward to the album, I think it could become a really nice crossover effort.
Oh and yes, she was on Sting but also didn't find her set very interesting. Lacked some enthousiasm or so (like with many actually).

That Roots song is good - doesn't the video have a dinner table scene where some parents look to be discouraging the Rasta thing? Reminds of two songs = Charlie Ace's 'Father and Dreadlocks' [Studio 1] and Mikey General's 'Ms. Taylor Bwoy' [Exterminator]
Went to her myspace and I also liked the Money song [the most] - nice music and different lyrical approach.

new to this forum but found the discussion interesting. I like Etana the tune wrong address is actually really good. Herself, Cherine Anderson and Queen Ifrica are the standouts to me . I've seen Cherine & Ifrica live they are great unfortunatley i havent seen Etana yet but i'm sure i will if she continues to put out more good music check out the others though Cherine Anderson www.myspace.com/cherineanderson I was really impressed with Cherine's Kingston State of Mind found it on youtube Kingstons State of Mind www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbBiWqUlFlQ
