Very difficult (maybe) ... but pick your favourite half-decade of Jamaican musical history. For me: 1982-1986 inclusive. Say it aint so Freddy.... - I had so much respect for you... Maybe it's the Jah Thomas stuff, in particular, that gets me down for this time period. Also, not big on the Hit Bound material - to my ears, it's like Channel One on qualudes. You won my heart again though Freddy - with your 73-77 vote... Tony Robinson, Bunny Lee/Tubby, Perry, Pablo - those were some extra lively sounds going on then... The Radics keep me waffling all the time --- as often as I cast them off, the stuff they did, like the Hugh Mundell material, was crucial - and when was that, the first half of the eighties...

'79 - '83 if I really had to choose only five consecutive years. The beginning of the dancehall era is for me perhaps the most beautiful music ever created.
