So do you expect to receive any records or cds for Xmas presents? Or will it just be socks and you have to buy the music yourself? Or have you spent so much during the rest of the year that you better concentrate on the friends + family?

Now that I'm 40 (though I've been pretty happy to receive the same since I was about 18) I like to get socks, pants, shaving and shower stuff - bring it on, I say - saves me buying it! Oh, and licorice allsorts, of course!

All right- another one. My misses knows that if the All Sorts don't show I am going to pout for a bit As for music- we went to drawing names in our families so I have to get a gift for two instead of twenty...the rest of that paycheck goes to present for self, which is always music, and it the one time a year when my wife does not aske what I spent

I've bought a few cd's for friends, even a reggae one but I expect it will just be boring things for me. Oh well! Merry Xmas everyone.

Jim Reeves - a Caribbean legend, or at least, a legend in the Caribbean. Country music is something I've avoided for much of my life with the solitary exception being a Johnny Cash LP. Quite possibly the Northern Ireland Country & western scene has played a contributing factor in this avoidance. I am similarly fearful of our White Gospel scene. ;D Al Green would be a favourite of mine but I don't recall having spun and of his works this year. You're clearly a man of tradition,T. I'll just stick on whatever tracks takes my/our fancy at the time on Xmas Day. I must admit that the whole Christmas thing has been relatively unsatisfactory for me this century and I've generally been relieved when it's passed by.

al green is my favourite & i am so lucky to have met him not once but twice. i also did a lovely al green pilgrimage to his church in memphis (august 2001)
jim reeves is the king - his voice must have wafted across the sea from texas, louisiana and florida to jamaica and cuba and beyond. jimmy london and ken parker are just two singers who sound a good deal like the great man
in fact i started early with the first jim reeves at 2 am this morning christmas eve currently listening to brook benton today, another beauty for the festive season
i feel the same about new years eve fred - cannot stand it

I'm getting the Bob Marley Songs Of Freedom CD set.
I can't wait to listen to some of Bob's Island output again.
