Just found a nice US repress of The Ethiopian Everything Crash...for me a wonderful long player from the Studio One label.

Juha's extension of this LP is worthy of "official" re-issue by Heartbeat or SoulJazz

my favourite studio one LP is Macka Fat by Jackie Mittoo and i play it most weeks but this is so closely followed by born to love- slim smith (much prized new york release) that they are inter-changeable in my esteem
special mention also for keep your eyes on jesus - ken parker(rob chapman pirate cd) and some incredible music (12" &other rarities) also pirated for me , this time by yms
creation and more creation - lennie hibbert
best of rolando alphanso
are also in the reckoning for 'most reached' for as is my own s/one instrumentals compilation which i run on a very long playing mini disk
also run hard on mini disk longplayer are studio one peter's 1991 brighton festival radio set and my own (with daddy studio one and gb)mr dodd birthday tribute broadcast on style uk (battersea) on the day of mr dodd's 70th , 26/1/02. tapes of this heartfelt tribute were later (may 2002) given to mrs dodd , then in brooklyn.
incidentally i am after a cd copy of macka fat - i think it came on studio one masters but i never saw it yet
otherwise, with over 150 more to choose from... the regularly 'reached for' are
songbook - bob andy on top - heptones all star top hits (v/a) jackie mittoo showcase what kind of world - cables (new york release) love me forever - carlton & his shoes best of studio one (1) heartbeat v/a best of studio one (2) heartbeat v/a downbeat the ruler heartbeat v/a best of alton and hortense ellis heartbeat cd alton ellis sings rock and soul live loving - sugar minott presenting burning spear the other burning spear, all ethiopians, wailing souls, gladiators, johnny osbourne, jennifer lara a man and his hits - ken boothe badda dan dem- lone ranger more scorcher from studio one (2) .........
you get the picture.........

This is a tough one. Still, have to say I agree with MSE according to the Slim Smith 'Born To Love' album. Together with 'Presenting' by Larry Marshall it was the album that got me into Studio One.

It is still 'Ska Authentic' by the Skatalites. I agree that 'Everything Crash', 'Truths And Rights' 'Boby Babylon', 'Live Loving' and 'Songbook' are also great albums.

For me, all of the above plus Freddy McKays "Picture on the wall", Jennifer Lara's "Presenting" and Jackie Mitoo's 1982 "Showcase" LP.
